Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa has brushed off a crash on the first day of MotoGP testing at Sepang, saying it was more than likely caused by a combination of a cold tyre and some front-end chatter.
The tiny Spaniard had the same three options of bike that team-mate Marc Marquez tried and said that already there were some big improvements on the bike Honda gave them at Valencia in November.
I had three versions of the bike, and I started obviously with last year's bike, get a little feeling after a long time not riding, and then I was swapping the versions of the bike to have the best feeling of the three. Today we mainly focused on deciding the bike version,” said Pedrosa, speaking at Sepang.
“Obviously, the 2014 is developed, the 2015 is still in the process, so I would say the '14 is more ready now, but the '15 has more potential, and we must shape a little bit the thing, and I think it can be good when we get the right setting. Today we already did a good improvement from Valencia, and this is very positive.
“I had a new front tire and I pushed right away from the first lap, and so maybe not ready yet, and I had some small chatter, and I fell there. I didn't have just a fall, but I couldn't restart because the marshal was not strong enough.”
