MotoGP Silverstone: 185mph crash still a mystery for Crutchlow

Britain's Cal Crutchlow says he is still a little mystified over his 185mph crash in this morning's third MotoGP free practice session and can only put it down to cold tyres on a cold track.

He fell at Maggott's early in the session and had to have a wound on his arm cleared out with a wire brush. The Isle of Man resident was left a little weakened and then crashed again at the end of the session, going over the handlebars at Vale.

Crutchlow did recover well enough, however, to put a lap in which was good enough for another front-row start in tomorrow's Silverstone clash.

"I was absolutely smashed on gas and air again, same as every year. They had to clean the abrasion as it had so much shit in it with a wire brush but I didn't feel it so I don't care. It is very swollen and we have had to add two centimetres to my leathers just to get my arm in," said Crutchlow, speaking at Silverstone.

"I felt my leathers were quite tight on the bike but those guys did some fast laps today, I didn't have anything for them. It is a shame as I felt a little bit closer but I secured a front row and was able to bounce back from the crashes quite well.

"This morning's crash, nobody can understand what happened. I was going fast, yeah, but nothing near what I was doing yesterday, it must have been no heat in the front tyre. It could have been anyone.

"We couldn't test much today so we will make the best bike we can from the information we have got and see what we can do tomorrow. A podium will be difficult as I have seen Dani's pace, it will be difficult to beat Bradl as he has decided to step it up but Vale and Bautista are going to be there as well and Bradley may spring a surprise, he is riding well."
