MotoGP Silverstone: 'Championship not done yet' - Redding

Scott Redding has denied the Moto2 World Championship is now a done deal for him despite increasing his lead over Pol Espargaro to 38 points with an historic win at Silverstone's MotoGP round today.

Redding crossed the line to be the first British rider since Ian Mcconnachie in 1986 to win a GP at the Northamptonshire track while Espargaro struggled to ninth place - but Redding says the Moto2 title isn't done until he says it is.

"It was a pretty strong weekend. We were always at the front but after the first practice I thought we were in trouble. I couldn't get any feeling but something clicked in the garage and I was there, I am really happy with the whole weekend," said Redding, speaking at Silverstone.

"We didn't change the setup that much from Brno, we were trying to save the tyre a bit more. For some reason, maybe the wind, when I was behind Taka on the brakes I was just training into the back of him. It was strange and I've not experienced that before.

"I knew I had the pace and today the top speed was very good, I always had a really good run on the back straight so I could almost recover a bit and helped me relax more. The tyres felt loose for some reason and I could feel it spinning from about lap five I think.

"I'm not really thinking about the championship, it isn't over until Valencia. Anything can happen. People say it is done, but it isn't until Valentica, then I will tell you if it's done. We need to keep being consistent, getting those points.

"The only things I read on my pitboard were 'breathe, want it and two laps to go', that was about it. The rest I was so focused, it's a long straight so you only look up for a split second then you have to brake."
