MotoGP Silverstone: 'Honda has five-to-one advantage' - Crutchlow

Monster Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow believes the balance of power between Honda and his own manufacturer has swung from an even split of advantages to Honda having a five to one superiority this season.

The Isle of Man resident, who moves to Ducati next year, says the bikes of Dani Pedrosa and points leader Marc Marquez are the most complete packages and have built on their historic grunt and top-end advantages in 2013.

"The Honda has always had more acceleration and top-end speed, and that's still the case. I always saw it that Honda had three advantages to Yamaha's three. It was three each, now it is five-one," said Crutchlow, speaking at Silverstone.

"They have got better drive off the corners, they have got better acceleration, better top speed and we used to be better in braking - more stable - and more corner speed. Now they are better in braking but they have less corner speed than us.

"They have five to our one because the stability. If you look at Marc and Dani, they ride completely differently and enter corner differently, so it shows how stable the bike is - Marc is a foot out of line and he still makes the corner.

Crutchlow is also of the opinion that works rider Jorge Lorenzo is what is stopping the Repsol-liveried bikes running further away with the championship even though rookie Marc Marquez now has a 44-point lead over the reigning champion.

"As I have said numerous times, I think the difference between Yamaha and Honda is Jorge. He has been the only guy who has been consistently at the front of every race. If you look at it over a period of time, there has been Valentino, Me, Ben, Dovi, Bradley and whoever else we still always finish behind him, and a lot of us with the same package."
