MotoGP Silverstone: Kent fights back after qualifying crash

Britain's Danny Kent had to fight his way back through the Moto2 field at yesterday's Silverstone MotoGP round after a crash in qualifying saw him start from 27th on the grid.

The youngster, who signed a new deal with his Tech3 team at the Northamptonshire track, had been at the sharp end in free practice but the tumble undid all his hard work and he had to scrap it out as soon as the race started.

“I knew it was going to be a very difficult race after qualifying so far down but I have to take the positives from the weekend. Going into qualifying I was sixth in practice and really happy with the performance of the Mistral 610," said Kent.

"At least I know I can run the pace at the front but the crash in qualifying really put me on the back foot and it is a shame I couldn’t finish in the points in my home race. I got a good start in the race and made up a few places but after the crash my hip kept cramping up and it was difficult. Now I am determined to bounce back in Misano and show the pace throughout that we had in practice here.”
