Italian Tony Arbolino read changing weather conditions just right to grab pole position for tomorrow's Moto3 race at the Argentine MotoGP round with hometown hero Gabriel Rodrigo in third with Marco Bezecchi the filling in the sandwich.
Rain had threatened since the start of the session and it was Arbolino, who slid into Romano Fenati's Marinello Snipers seat, who was quickest before drizzle began. He set a 1'53.782 to neat Bezecchi by three-tenths with Rodrigo two-tenths further back.
Adam Norrodin put in the fourth-best time with a 1'54.346 to keep Enea Bastiannini at bay. Fabio Digiannantonio completing the second tow. Nico Antonelli is seventh with Aron Canet, who sparked massive controversy with his nerfing of Yurchenko yesterday, in eighth.
Pole hound Jorge Martin is in ninth place after getting caught out by the rain with Andrea Migno completing the top ten.
John McPhee, who usually excels in the wet, finished in 22nd after problems in FP3 while Nico Bulego contines to struggle, finishing in 27th place, two behind Darryn Binder.
