MotoGP title chase 'up in the air' for Crutchlow

Monster Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow thinks the 2013 MotoGP title chase is up in the air with rookie Marc Marquez leading by two points and the championship favourites both injured.

Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa were both injured in big crashes at the Sachsenring and scored no points, which allowed Marquez to top the table and Crutchlow and Valentino Rossi to close in.

The British rider is now only 20 points behind Lorenzo and a further 11 behind Marquez while Rossi trails the Spanish wunderkind by 37 points going into the ninth race of 18.

"You don't know what can happen next week. It's up in the air so much. Clearly, I am not thinking in terms of championship and I want to make as many podiums as I can. I want to win a race but anything can happen.

"Dani was going to race on Sunday morning but didn't make it to the grid so I think it can be anybody's."

Valentino Rossi added: "The situation now is very close. What I think is that Dani and Jorge are the stronger but Marc is in front with every time a podium except the mistake in Mugello. If I want to fight for the podium I have to be faster and more consistent. We are not so far but we have to do another step."
