MotoGP Valencia: De Puniet tops drying second practice

CRT front-runner Randy De Puniet topped the second MotoGP free practice session at Valencia this afternoon on a drying track which saw Nicky Hayden as the fastest prototype protagonist.

De Puniet, on the Power Electronics Aprilia, was less than a tenth quicker than Gresini's Michele Pirro with Hayden in third but many of the big hitters didn't bother trying to put in any meaningful times, even as the track dried.

Karel Abraham and Valentino Rossi were next along with Danilo Petrucci, Ivan Silva, who led the way for much of the session, Roby Rolfo, James Ellison and Hiro Aoyama completed the top ten.

Cal Crutchlow was 12th after doing only five laps while Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso, Stefan Bradlm, Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo didn't do a flying lap.

The new world champion did complete and out-lap and spent much of it on the back wheel, pleasing the damp crowd.
