Ducati MotoGP boss Paolo Ciabatti has admitted the Borgo Panigale factory is considering a Moto3 project in the near future and could happen as soon as 2018.
Even though Ducati has a wealth of satellite teams to bring on new talent, Ciabatti is thinking of a bike for the tiddler class in order to further help youngsters on their path to the blue riband class.
“We have several satellite teams at the possibility to put some promising riders into MotoGP without the pressure of riding for a factory team but Moto3 is something interesting,” Ciabatti said at Valencia this lunchtime.
“It is not a plan, it is something we are thinking about but it isn’t going to happen next year because decisions have not been made yet. Eventually, if everything goes right with our MotoGP project, we might consider a Moto3 bike but there is no fixed plan at the moment.”
