MOTOGP VALENCIA: NEWS, GOSSIP AND RUMOUR

Valentino Rossi's big boss at Yamaha, Masao Furusawa, has said the Japanese factory will not follow Ducati down the carbon fibre frame route but will instead concentrate on improved electrionics for 2009. Which won't please Rossi as he hated them.

Furusawa also said that new developments will be passed down the line to James Toseland and Colin Edwards with little delay. So about three months later then...

Toseland reckons he is very confident about Bridgestone's plan for supplying 2009 tyres next season. The factory will only be handing out 20 tyres per rider per weekend, which is half as many as this season. Toseland has said that if the company is confident enough to make those sort of changes, they must be confident in the product.

Rossi has confirmed that he will have a Ford Focus to crash in the Wales Rally GB in November.

Toseland's boss Herve Poncharal has denied reports that Ben Spies has been promised a place in the squad in 2010 after he completes his first year in World Superbikes. "Zis is, 'ow you say, a load of old cock," he probably said, while shrugging a lot and looking skywards.

Sepang has scrapped plans for a night race. Water and electricity? Not rocket science is it?
Ducati's race Livio Suppo has said that he really, really wants to finish runner up in the contructor's championship and then went on to give a squillion reasons why they won't: "Hopefully we can finish the season at Valencia with a good result that allows us to hang on to second place in the Constructors' Championship. It's a big ask because Dani (Pedrosa) is very strong at this track and he arrives on the back of a very good race, whilst Nicky has always been fast at Valencia and the characteristics of the track should suit the satellite Hondas."
Anthony West, who moves across (down) to World Supersport with Stiggy Honda next year, thinks his future in MotoGP is not over. "It's been a tough season for me, and I haven't achieved the results that I was expecting going into my first full year as a factory rider," he said. Next year I'll be racing elsewhere, but my MotoGP aspirations are far from over. 2009 will be a year to regroup, to try and impress in another championship and, if I can do that then there's no reason why I shouldn't make a return to MotoGP in the future." The poor boy's in a Egyptian river.
The heat of Sepang apparently caused Valentino Rossi's vision to switch to black and white. And the Italian has called for races in extreme hear to be shortened. Countryman Mattia Pasini retired from the 250cc race five laps from the end due to heat exhaustion. Pansy.

Rossi's pet bulldog Guido has gone to the big kennel in the sky. Guido adorned the seat hump of Rossi's bikes for many years and was nearly ten.

Jorge Martinez is set to re-open talks with Suzuki for another GSV-R after the deal to run a third Kawasaki fell through. His Spanish sponsors wanted a Spaniard on the bike, but Kawasaki want Shinya Nakano.
Super Shinya has been linked with a switch to the Aprilia World Superbike outfit which his former boss Luca Montiron is tipped to be managing. Montiron will take his part of the JiR Scot Honda ball home with him on Sunday night after not being given the 2009 Honda he was allegedly promised.
Brad Pitt is desperately trying to secure a ride on a MotoGP bike, and has Valentino Rossi's backing. Pitt, who you may have seen in such films as Fight Club and such crocks of shit as Snatch, owns 12 bikes and likes them a lot. Yamaha best keep his missus out of the way. She was last seen wandering around the pit at Laguna, clutching adoption papers with YZR-M1 written on them...
The war of words between Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa's manager Alberto Puig goes on. And on. It's a bit like watching some first years having a scrap in the sandpit. Grow up.
