Nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi has today confirmed he will not have Jerry Burgess as his crew chief for the 2014 MotoGP season.
The veteran Australian has guided Rossi to all of his premier class titles, and did the same with Mick Doohan before him but the Italian has now decided he needs to find a new way to go racing to improve his results next season and be in with a chance of the title.
"Next year, Jerry will not be my chief mechanic. It was a very difficult decision for me because I have a great history with him, he is not just my chief mechanic but part of a family, my father of racing, but I decide for next year I need to chane something for try to find new motivation and have a new boost for improve my level and speed," said The Doctor, speaking at Valencia.
Rossi added that he has some ideas of who would replace Burgess but nothing firm as yet.
