MotoGP Valencia: Rossi loses confidence with ’nervous’ M1

Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi admitted he didn’t have much confidence in his factory YZR-M1 in the second MotoGP free practice session as the bike felt nervous and he wasn’t able to ride well.

The Doctor ended the day in seventh place and half a second off the pace but was three-tenths quicker in the morning than the afternoon as all the setup changes his team tried made the bike more difficult to ride.

“Difficult today for me especially in the afternoon because in the morning was not so bad, the first feeling was not so bad, the laptime was not far from the top. We had some problem, it is difficult to ride the bike in this track, we need to find a good setting, it is very tricky, very nervous,” said Rossi, speaking at Valencia.

“The tyre are a problem so we have to make work to improve as the situation is difficult with front and rear. The track has a lot of left corner and not a lot of right corner, the temperture is not so high so it is hard to find the right grip.

“We try to improve the situation this afternoon but it was worse. All the modify we did give to me other problems and the second part I suffer a lot with the tyre, the bike become difficult to ride. We try a lot of things to fix but at the we doesn’t fix the problem.

“Is good because we try a lot and we have a lot of data but we have to make better and find the better balance to arrive strong in the afternoon. I don’t feel confident, I don’t ride well to push at the limit.”
