Factory Yamaha's Valentino Rossi faces a difficult decision this evening over tyres for tomorrow's Valencia MotoGP finale because although he put in a faster run on the softer Bridgestones, he is worried about their longevity.
The Doctor was only 0.026s behind team-mate Jorge Lorenzo in free practice four as the pair did more evaluation on the softer and new-for-this-weekend harder option Bridgestone - a tyre that hasn't yet been proved in a race situation.
"For me now is 50/50 because with the soft I was faster but everybody now is worried about the soft for the 30 laps. The hard is more safe but we have to go faster with the hard," said Rossi, speaking at Valencia.
"The target was the front row and I wasn't able and is a pity but starting from the fourth position tomorrow is not so bad because my laptime is quite good, I can go under the 1'31. Now we have to work hard and decide the rear tyre and try to stay with the top three."
