MotoGP Valencia: Vinales 'on a razor's edge' with available engines

Monster Yamaha Maverick Vinales believes he is at a serious disadvantage for the rest of the season as he has basically run out of engines.

All the Yamaha riders have had two motors taken out of their allocation as they used non-homologated valves at Jerez without seeking permission from the MSMA. The valves ubsequently proved hugely unreliable, so those engines have been put in the skip.

'I'm on a razor's edge, struggling with engines. At Aragon I only did a few laps in practice, just to avoid using them," said Vinales, speaking at Valencia.

"So I was unable to set the bike perfectly in the second race when the track was decidedly different from the first race.

"We paid a lot for this strategy but will have to see about Valencia, with little laps in free practice and trying to set-up in the short time I am on track. I will spend a lot of time in the pits."
