Oliveira discusses joining 'one of the best teams in the paddock'

Gold and Goose

Miguel Oliveira has spoken on his decision to move to the Prima Pramac Yamaha Factory Team.

For months it had been speculated that Miguel Oliveira would join the new Prima Pramac Yamaha Factory Team. The confirmation arrived just before the Misano Grand Prix as he put pen to paper on his new two-year deal.

After being replaced by Ai Ogura at Trackhouse Racing Oliveira has decided to take his experience to Yamaha.

The Japanese manufacturer has been struggling throughout the 2023 and 2024 seasons. However, they have shown commitment to getting back to the top. For 2025 Yamaha will have four factory bikes on the grid and potentially four proven race winners.

Oliveira is the only rider for Pramac Yamaha as it stands, but he is expected to be joined by Jack Miller. The two will partner the Monster Energy Yamaha duo of Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins on their journey of taking Yamaha back to the sharp end of MotoGP.

After announcing his new deal Oliveira said: "I am super happy to finally be able to share this, it is a huge accomplishment. In the last few weeks, there has been a lot of expectation to comment on it. I am happy, I want to thank Yamaha, Lin Jarvis, and everyone responsible for making this come true.

"I believe I can make a difference there, I believe with this new approach we can actually arrive to good results much sooner. So hopefully all this hard work will pay off in the near future."

Oliveira stated that one of his main motivations in joining Yamaha was the commitment they were showing to getting back up the order.

"That was the factor that really enforced my decision," Oliveira said. "You can see from the outside and understand the approach that they are taking with the testing. They don't want to wait too long to be competitive. Even though the rules are changing, in two years' time Yamaha wants to come back to the top. They are putting in the effort to go in that direction.

"To have a second factory team as well, we will all be on the same machines, we have availability to the same materials. I think that is a really positive thing and we must look forward to that."

"I am super happy to be in Pramac to be working with Paulo (Campinotti) and Gino Borsoi. It is no secret they are one of the best teams in the paddock. I am looking forward to getting to know the crew and working with them."
