Phillip Island MotoGP test: Qualifying will be a different game - Rossi

Valentino Rossi believes that because of the new Michelin tyres, MotoGP’s qualifying sessions will be a different game in 2016 compared to last year but he doesn’t yet know if it will be good or bad for him.

The Italian suffered badly in the last two seasons during the final timed session and more often than not, started races from te second row or worse, and he said this is an area of his weekend he needs to work on this year.

“The important is to fight for the top position every race and continue like last two season. I need to try and improve in the qualifying as this is the point where I suffer more. For sure the game will change with the Michelin in the qualifying but I don’t know if is better for me or not,” said Rossi, speaking at the track.

“I think the balance of the different bikes will change from one track to the other. so for this reason is important to try at three different track before the beginning of the season so we can understand more or less what’s happened. It will be important to have one bike that can adapt track by track.”

Rossi also said he was surprised that after only one dry day of testing in Australia, the MotoGP field is already lapping as fast as they did on Bridgestone tyres in last year’s race but added he needs to find more confidence with the front end.
