PICS - Check out what's new as the latest spec 2024 MotoGP machines debut in Sepang [Updated]

Gold & Goose

Testing for the 2024 MotoGP World Championship is underway with initial shakedown taking place over three days at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia.

The three days are a chance for each of the five manufacturers - KTM, Honda, Ducati, Yamaha and Aprilia - to dust off the cobwebs on the machinery that will be sampled properly when official testing begins on 6 February [Tuesday, next week].

The first day of shakedown testing was dedicated to the manufacturer's lead development riders, plus the one and only rookie on the grid - Pedro Acosta - to get some extra familiarity with the larger engined machinery having switched from Moto2 over the winter.

New for 2024, however, is the introduction of MotoGP's new 'concession' rules, which are results based and allow those enduring struggling times - in this case Yamaha and Honda - to run their race riders over the final two days of the Sepang test.

Day one was a chance for the manufacturers to clear the throats of their 2024-spec machinery. Though the machines seen here won't likely be the final specifications that will line-up for the opening round in Qatar on 8-10 March, they do debut some new aero features.

Honda, Ducati and Aprilia are noticeable for revealing fresh tail-end designs to their models, while Yamaha appears to have tweaked the front-end of the M1 to make it less aero-dependent and work on making it more slippery in a straight line as it bids to discover more performance.

Honda too made an impression with a front-end that more than bears a resemblance to that of the Ducati GP23

In the meantime, get the magnifying glasses out - or in KTM's case, prepare your eyes - to see what's new...
