Pol Espargaro is aiming for a MotoGP comeback

Pol Espargaro is yet to make a race appearance in the 2023 MotoGP season after he crashed in Practice at the opening round of the Championship.

After his crash it was revealed that the 31-year-old had suffered a series of heavy injuries, including a double jaw fracture, ear damage, cervical fractures leading to nerve complications, two broken ribs, and three fractured vertebrae.

For 2023 Espargaro made the switch from Repsol Honda back over to the Tech3 squad, where he would be reunited with his KTM RC16, but in GasGas branding instead of Red Bull colours this time.

However, the move that was meant to revitalise Espargaro's career after two lackluster years on a Honda has not gone to plan. Wity the other KTM machines fighting at the front of the MotoGP field sitting on the sidelines must be hard for the Spaniard.

After missing five rounds of the season so far Espargaro has shared news on when he hopes to be back in action with Spanish broadcaster TV3.

In his interview Espargaro said: "Next week, I'll have my medical check-up, and if the doctors give me the green light, I'll be heading to Mugello. If that's not possible, I'll aim to make it back for the second race (Sachsenring) or the third (Assen) of this triple-header."

With aims of returning to MotoGP it will be a slow road back to MotoGP bike fit for the Spaniard who has not ridden a MotoGP machine since March. But his return will be a true test of if Espargaro has recovered from injuries enough to take part in the upcoming triple header of races.

Because of Espargaro's absence former Monster Yamaha Tech3 MotoGP rider, Jonas Folger, made his return to MotoGP in the GasGas Factory Racing Tech3 squad. The German rider had not raced in MotoGP since 2017 and so far in the three Grands Prix that they has entered this season he has scored points in two of them.
