Jake Dixon concluded winter testing fourth overall despite a late crash on his GasGas Aspar Moto2.
After three days at Portimao’s Algarve International Circuit, Dixon closed the test with a best lap of 1’42.040, set on Sunday’s final session. The time placed him just under half a second shy of Pedro Acosta’s record breaking benchmark.
The British rider completed 160 laps of the 4.6km rollercoaster layout across the three days, running through to the final session and one of only five who set out for the closing action.
“We close the Portimao test with a good pace, an average 1’42, although when I was looking for a time attack, I crashed,” Dixon admitted from Portugal. “In the last run I was coming in 1’41 but in the last two corners I had my foot resting on the brake lever and that prevented me from achieving it.
“The positive thing is we have a good set-up for the first race, I am already looking forward to competing in Qatar.”
