It was an anticlimactic final day in Qatar this afternoon as MotoGP pre-season testing ground to an abrupt and early end.

Strong winds and sandstorms created unfavourable track conditions with only the hardiest of riders, namely Tech3’s Danilo Petrucci, and HRC reps Stefan Bradl and Pol Espargaro, even attempting a lap. Test riders Michele Pirro and Takuya Tsuda also made brief appearances around on the Losail layout but none worthy of a classification lap time.

With the final hour approaching, conditions looked to be picking up slightly. Petrucci and Bradl were seen circulating at just under 2 minute pace, as LCR’s Takaaki Nakagami and KTM’s Brad Binder also headed out for a brief assessment on their respective machines, but with the majority of teams already beginning the pack-up procedure, the on-track action remained short-lived and uninspiring.

Monster Energy Yamaha utilised the final half an hour to further their start procedure practice with Maverick Vińales heading out for seven starts, teammate Fabio Quartararo just two.

Petrucci recorded the fastest time of the day with a 1’58.157 after nine laps on track, with Bradl 1.2s and Nakagami 1.6s behind. Binder and Espargaro both setting 2’01 times before calling it a day with around 10 laps apiece.

Ducati’s Jack Miller, therefore, concludes the test as the fastest rider of the six days, with his lightning 1’53.183 lap, set on Wednesday evening. Vińales leads Yamaha teammate Quartararo in the overall top-three with VR46 Academy graduates Franky Morbidelli and Pecco Bagnaia concluding the top-five. Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro claims sixth ahead of the Suzuki pairing of Joan Mir and Alex Rins while Johann Zarco and an impressive performance from Pol Espargaro on his new Repsol Honda round out the top-10.

Valentino Rossi finished preparation for his 26th season in Grand Prix racing in 11th as the last rider to achieve a 1’53 lap time - the first for his career to date. Honda riders Nakagami and Bradl sat 12th and 13th respectively ahead of rapid rookies Jorge Martin and Enea Bastianini, while Miguel Oliveira headed teammate Binder in 16th and 17th after a disappointing test for KTM. An injured Alex Marquez leaves Losail in 18th with Petrucci 19th, Luca Marini 21st, Iker Lecuona 23rd and a struggling Lorenzo Savadori, the final full-time rider, 2.5 seconds off in 26th.
