Winter motocross training struck again at the weekend with Monster Energy Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo the latest victim.
The Frenchman today confirmed he had fractured his left hand, with the injury stable enough to not require surgery.
“Yesterday I had a crash during my motocross training and I suffer a little fracture on my left hand,” Quartararo explained. “No surgery needed, time to recover.”
The 2021 MotoGP Champion is the second rider injured this weekend, with Andrea Dovizioso also sustaining a broken right wrist in a crash at Crossodromo Catini, Italy.
“There’s this new trend that cross riders follow: showing their fractures,” the former MotoGP rider said on social media. “And I, who feel a bit of a cross rider, couldn’t help but be “in trend”... and I decided to play the wrist fracture card.
“A scary couple of hours, but it’s part of the game. The important thing is that I’m fine and I haven’t suffered any permanent damage.
“Now I’m taking a little break,” Dovizioso joked before concluding: “See you on the track, in a month, to get back on the 2023 goals.”
