Raul Fernandez will participate in the Buriram MotoGP Test

Gold & Goose

After fracturing a metacarpal in Sepang Raul Fernandez has been given the green light to participate in the Buriram MotoGP Test.

Raul Fernandez missed the majority of the Sepang MotoGP Test last week. On the opening day of the three-day test, the Spaniard suffered a massive crash and fractured a metacarpal bone in his left hand.

The Trackhouse Racing rider is the only rider to have previous experience with the Aprilia RS-GP. Fernandez was absent from the second and third days of the Sepang Test but will return for the two-day Buriram Test.

With his return to the track this week Fernandez will be useful for the Italian manufacturer. He will be able to work alongside Marco Bezzecchi, Lorenzo Savadori and Ai Ogura.

Fernandez's return is one piece of the puzzle for Aprilia as they are still missing the 2024 MotoGP World Champion, Jorge Martin.

"I'm happy to be here. After the crash, I flew back to Spain immediately. I thank Dr. Mir because when I landed in Barcelona, everything was prepared for the operation," Fernandez told the media in Thailand.

"The crash was only a week ago, everything happened very quickly. Since we're not in Europe, I had to go there and then back to Asia for the operation, which wasn't easy.

"The hand is fine, the problem is the foot. I have severe pain on the left side of my body and also in my back."
