Rea hoping for 'trouble-free' Silverstone MotoGP weekend

London's Gino Rea is hoping this weekend's Silverstone MotoGP round will trouble-free and opposite to last weekend's Brno Moto2 outing where he was beset with electrical problems that wouldn't go away.

Rea was on the back foot from Friday when the problem reared its ugly head and he wasn't able to find a cure - retiring from the race when his FTR-chassied bike ground to a halt.

“Brno was a very difficult and disappointing weekend for us as a new team but I’m remaining positive and looking forward to my home Grand Prix. The electrical problems haunted us since Friday and no matter what we changed, the problem just wouldn’t go away. In the race the problem increased and I had to retire when the bike completely stopped," said Rea.

“Last year at Silverstone the atmosphere and the home fans were brilliant so I can’t wait to get there. We have a lot of work to do on the bike but hopefully we can have a smooth, problem free weekend where I can focus on my riding and set up of my FTR bike. It’s difficult enough as it is being the only FTR and running a team ourselves against the big teams, I just want a fair chance at it. I’ll be trying as hard as ever to make things go the right direction.

“Last year I qualified in 14th at Silverstone and I’d be happy to be in that position again this year. I really want to have a strong weekend and if there’s anywhere specific to do it, I want to do it at Silverstone."
