Rory Skinner out of Italian Moto2 after Alcoba wipe-out

Rory Skinner will play no further part in this weekend’s Italian Moto2 at Mugello after being knocked about in a collision with Jeremy Alcoba during FP3.

The Scottish rookie is competing at the iconic Italian venue for the first time this weekend, but was already enduring a bruising experience following a red flag-inducing crash in P2 on Friday when he was taken out by Alcoba.

QJMotor Gresini rider Alcoba was coming up to slip up the inside of Skinner coming into Turn 2, only to lose the front of his Kalex and clip the back of Skinner’s American Racing bike

Twitsing Skinner at an awkward angle before coming down feet first, he was tended to by marshals on track before being taken to the medical centre.

Though he says on Twitter that X-rays show no breaks, the decision was taken to sit out this race to safeguard him for the next two rounds in Germany and the Netherlands.
