Rossi slips to 51st on sport rich list afer Yamaha pay cut

Nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi has slipped from 20th to 51st on the Forbes Sports Star rich list after taking a significant pay cut to join Yamaha.

The Doctor will now have to scrape by on just $22M a year with $12m in salaries and $10m in endorsements. Fernando Alonso is the highest paid motorsport professional netting a total of $30m.

To give it some context, Tiger Woods is the highest-paid sports star, clawing in $78.1m from salaries, winnings and endorsements with Roger Federer ($71M) second and Basketball star Kobe Bryant ($61.9M) third.

According to Forbes, the world richest man is Mexican telecom giant Carlos Slim Helu reportedly worth a staggering $73B with Microsoft nerd Bill Gates second and Amancio Ortega, owner of the Zara fashion brand, third on a paltry $57B.
