Three riders were declared unfit during the Sepang Test, but could we see Scott Redding return to MotoGP as a replacement rider?
During the opening day of the Sepang MotoGP Test, three riders were declared unfit. Aprilia has lost Jorge Martin and Raul Fernandez, and Ducati has lost Fabio di Giannantonio.
Lorenzo Savadori will replace Jorge Martin in Aprilia Racing, but Scott Redding has raised his hand as a potential replacement rider for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team.
The British rider will return to a Ducati for the 2025 World Superbike season with the MGM Bonovo Racing Team. The former MotoGP rider commented on MotoGP's official Instagram post about di Giannantonio's injury.
Redding commented: "No, what is happening?"
The former Ducati MotoGP rider also commented: "Not enough Michele Pirro at this rate. Give me a call if needed."
Redding would be available to ride at the Thailand MotoGP Test next week on the 12th and 13th of February. The British rider will soon be on his way to Phillip Island for the final World Superbike Test ahead of the opening round of the season which will take place from the 21st-23rd of February.
It would be very unlikely that the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team would give Redding a call. However, it would be interesting to see how the 32-year-old would fare in MotoGP now after six years away from the Championship.
