Sepang MotoGP test: Lorenzo ‘able to brake later and better’ today

Former MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo found some improvements in pace during the second day of MotoGP testing at Sepang courtesy of being able to brake later and better on the 2017 Desmosedici GP.

The Spaniard admitted yesterday that he would have to alter his riding style significantly in order to get the best from his need steed, and it seems to be working as he got down to a 2’00.484 at the Malaysian track, just a second slower than Andrea Iannone’s Suzuki, which took top spot.

“Yesterday was a shock to find some difficulties to be competitive, but I expected it was just a question of time and now it’s much more natural for me and I can push more and be faster,” said Lorenzo, speaking at the track.

“There is still a long way to reach the limit with this bike and this track, but we are much closer, and the progress has been huge so we should be very satisfied with the work today. Today I could brake later and better, so it’s a huge improvement.I still need to improve under braking. Even though I took a step forward, I don’t know how to make my braking more effective.

“I still don’t know how to extract the maximum from the new tyres with this bike, and when I try to push a bit more, the speed is the same and I don’t improve.”
