Silverstone's brand new layout, due to be ready when the MotoGP circus comes to the track in 2010, will make it the quickest track on calendar, with a simulated lap speed three kph faster than Phillip Island.
The Australian circuit is currently the quickest at 179kph but data for the new Silverstone, which will be 5.67 kilometres long, puts it at 182kph, which is 113mph in proper money. The simulated laptime is 1'51.456.
The mathematical calculations have been done by HOK Sport, which is a leading sports architecture firm, incorporating the new Arowhead part of the track which runs from the approach to the existing Abbey corner to a hairpin at the inside of Becketts.
