Britain's Bradley Smith made his debut with the Aspar Aprilia at Valencia today and set the quickest time of 1'41.7, which was just ahead of team-mate Julian Simon.
Smith made the switch from his Polaris World team at the end of this season as the Spanish property company are in financial difficulties. This was his first go on a 2008-spec Aprilia 125GP bike.
The Oxfordshire youngster was running around the track today with Maxtra rider Michael Ranseder. Fellow Brit Matthew Hoyle is hotly-tipped to join him in the Chinese garage.
Scott Redding and Danny Webb will not now get any track time on their bike until the winter testing ban finishes at the end of January.
