Britain’s Bradley Smith has converted his second successive pole position into a third place this morning at Jerez. After leading off the line, he dropped to third on the second lap and then fourth but leader Stefan Bradl had a moment on lap 11 which promoted the Oxfordshire teenager back onto the podium.
Some daring manouevres in the last third of the race didn’t pay off for Smith, including one on Terol for the lead, and allowed the leaders to get away and Bradl to come back at him. Smith finished the race five seconds behind the winner. This is Smith’s second podium of his GP career, the first at Le Mans last year.
Qatar superstar Scott Redding ended the race in seventh after a race-long battle with Mike DiMeglio, and Danny Webb crashed unhurt on lap lap eight. He had been battling back from 13th and was right on Redding’s back wheel.
Redding and Smith are now seventh and eighth respectively in the 125cc championship with Danny Webb 12th.

The race was won by Simone Corsi with Nicolas Terol, who led for a majority of laps, in second.
