Bradley Smith looks to be heading back to the MotoGP paddock for 2022 with the newly revised WithU GRT RNF MotoE Team.
Having already challenged for the title in its inaugural 2019 season, where he finished runner up with four podiums from six races in the team’s original One Energy Racing guise, the Oxfordshire rider returns for a second bite of the cherry in 2022. While no official announcement from the RNF team has been released, the provincial entry list for next season sees the 31-year-old line up alongside fellow ex-MotoGP and current Yamaha WorldSBK test rider Niccolo Canepa.
The Italian is himself no stranger to the electric class having raced for LCR in both the 2019 and 2020 seasons, before switching to concentrate on his World Endurance and Superbike rider coach duties - alongside newly crowned champion Toprak Razgatlioglu - this year.
2021 title rivals Jordi Torres and Dominique Aegerter are back to battle for honours once more with their respective Dynavolt Intact GP and Pons Racing 40 teams while previous champion Matteo Ferrari (Felt Gresini MotoE) and race winners Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) and Miquel Pons (Pons Racing) also return to the grid.
18 riders in total will compete across the 14 races and seven weekends, commencing at Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto on April 30th before concluding at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on September 4th, with Avintia Esponsorama’s second rider yet to be confirmed.
