Next year's Monster Yamaha MotoGP rider Ben Spies has been confirmed as a wildcard entry for the final round of this year's championship at the Spanish circuit of Valenica.

Following the announcement the Texan would replace James Toseland in 2010, Yamaha have decided to give the World Superbike front runner some extra track time ahead of the first test.

A Yamaha spokesman said: "The wild card entry will provide an opportunity for Spies to get extra circuit time prior to his inclusion in the Tech 3 Yamaha Team for the two-day MotoGP test on the Tuesday and Wednesday after the Grand Prix."
