Reigning MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner has undergone successful ankle surgery in a Syndey hospital and now faces an agonising wait to find out if and when he can return to action.
The Repsol Honda man, who is being replaced by Britain's Jonathan Rea for the next two rounds, was operated on at the North Shore Private Hospital but no details of the procedure have been released.
There were no complications and Stoner is now at home recuperating.
