'The 2025 project is not going any better than the 2024 project' - Zarco makes a worrying statement about Honda

Gold & Goose

After a difficult five-year stint Honda was hoping to improve in 2025, but one of their riders does not see any improvement.

The 2024 MotoGP season saw Honda competing at the back of the grid throughout the whole season. Both the factory Honda riders of Luca Marini and Joan Mir finished 22nd and 21st in the Championship standings.

The LCR Honda riders of Johann Zarco and Takaaki Nakagami did not do much better than their factory colleagues. Zarco was Honda's star rider last season as he ended the year in 17th and ventured into the top ten on two occasions.

Honda is making big steps to try and close the gap back to the European manufacturers. The Japanese manufacturer hired Romano Albesiano as their Technical Director and hired Aleix Espargaro as their new Test Rider.

Zarco spoke about Honda's new acquisitions to paddock-gp.com ahead of his second year as an LCR Honda rider:

"I hope so. Fresh blood like Aleix Espargaro could be very good. To push things forward with a different perspective, there is Romano Albesiano. It will certainly be interesting to see how things will develop after the first test in Malaysia, including the shakedown," said Zarco.

Zarco concluded by stating: "At the moment, the 2025 project is not going any better than the 2024 project."
