Yamaha is working hard to return to the top in MotoGP after a positive Misano Test.
After their recent struggles, Yamaha has been hard at work to try and get back to the top in MotoGP. The Japanese manufacturer has already bolstered their efforts for 2025 by signing Pramac as their satellite team.
After the San Marino Grand Prix, the MotoGP teams got back to work on Monday in the Misano Test. This was a chance for current Monster Energy Yamaha riders, Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, to test early 2025 concepts.
Both riders found positives from the one-day test as Yamaha tried their 2025 engine, new chassis and electronic upgrades.
Quartararo hopes that what Yamaha has learnt from this test can also be used in 2024 to help him return to the top ten.
"We had a chassis to try but we tried that during the weekend," Quartararo revealed after the test. "It was a small step in the right direction. We also used some new setups that we have never really tried.
"We had a new engine and some new electronics that we still need to try. But I think the way we are working is good and better and hopefully, we can make a step before the end of the season and fight to qualify in the top ten."
Rins was also happy after trying the base for the 2025 Yamaha engine as he improved his pace by 0.7 seconds.
"We worked quite hard during this test. We tried the base of next year's engine," Rins stated after the test. "Which was a positive, I was able to improve my pace by 0.7 seconds so honestly it was quite good. We tested some things on the chassis, that was also positive. So overall I am quite happy for today's test."
