The Marquez brothers had a 'super emotional' weekend in Thailand after finishing first and second at the opening Grand Prix.
The 2025 season kicked off with Marc Marquez securing a double victory at the Thai Grand Prix.
In his first race weekend with the Ducati Lenovo Team, the eight-time World Champion was the most dominant rider at the season opener.
Marquez shared the podium with his brother, Alex Marquez, in the Sprint Race and the Grand Prix. The experience of finishing first and second was 'super emotional' for the older Marquez brother.
"It was super emotional, not only to start this new journey with Ducati Lenovo with a victory more to share first and second with my brother," Marquez told TNT Sports.
"I think it is the best weekend of my life. When we were World Champions in different categories, it was super good, but to share it in the premier class, it is the best.
"To share the first and second position in Qualifying, in the Sprint and in the main race it is a top weekend. I am super happy for Alex [Marquez] and I am super happy for my team."
On lap seven of the Grand Prix, Marquez had to drop back from first to second and let his brother through.
At first it looked like the 32-year-old had a technical issue, but he has since explained that it was so he reached the tyre pressure limit.
"The race was super demanding, the feeling was super good at the beginning," Marquez explained.
"But I quickly realised that the tyre pressure was not enough and I was looking for a slip stream and I only had three laps of margin. This is why I overtook Alex [Marquez] three laps before the end of the race.
"It was quite critical because a big penalisation would have been a disaster."
For the first time since 2019, Marquez has left a race weekend as the World Championship leader.
"I know the season has only just started but it is the best way to start," Marquez said when he was asked about the Championship standings.
"Confidence is super high and we started in a very good way in Malaysia, in Thailand and now on the race weekend.
"My teammate is Mr Sunday, and he is really fast, and I was a bit worried for this reason, so I have been super concentrated today.
"But I have the pace and I have a good feeling with the bike, we have to continue in the same way."
