Pata Honda’s Michael Van Der Mark will not make his MotoGP debut at this weekend’s Assen MotoGP round as the planned deal for him to replace Karel Abraham in the AB Motorsport team has not materialised due a difference of opinion over who should pay for crash damage.
According to Dutch website racesport.nl, all the permissions from Honda, HRC and the Ten Kate-run Pata WSBK team were all in place but Cardion pulled out earlier today so the deal has been shelved. The team wanted HRC to pay for any damage that occurred and HRC said it should be the team’s responsibility as it would be if Abraham was falling off it.
It is thought now that test rider Hiro Aoyama will ride the bike but who is paying for his crash damage is anyone's guess...
