Despite rumours suggesting Pedro Acosta could jump ship VR46 has never discussed signing the young superstar.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team has finally spoken about the rumours stating Pedro Acosta could join their MotoGP Team in 2026.
Acosta has been a part of the KTM family since he entered the MotoGP paddock in the Moto3 World Championship. The Spaniard won the Moto3 and Moto2 titles with the Red Bull KTM Ajo Teams in the lightweight and intermediate classes.
However, after signing a multi-year deal with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team there has been speculation surrounding his future with KTM. The Austrian manufacturer is currently in a financial crisis and reports suggested Acosta could be looking to jump ship.
VR46 Team Manager, Uccio Salucci, was asked about these rumours during the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team launch in Indonesia.
“First of all, I’m sorry about the story about KTM, because we have a very good relationship with KTM,” he said.
“We started our relationship in 2014 in Moto3, with [Stefan] Pierer and [Pit] Beirer and all the board and management for KTM. I don’t like this story, but unfortunately, it’s like this.
“And the second note, Acosta is a fantastic rider. Maybe now he is the best talent in MotoGP.
"But now it’s too early to speak about this and sincerely I never spoke seriously about Acosta in our team.”
In recent weeks, Acosta has publicly said that the KTM situation has no effect on his immediate MotoGP future.
