2014 Suzuka Eight-Hours: Van Der Mark bags provisional pole

Pata Honda World Supersport star Michael Van Der Mark stuck in a stunning final lap in qualifying at the Suzuka Eight-Hours to take provisional pole and his team into tomorrow’s top ten shootout.

The young Dutchman, who is in the MuSashi squad with Britain’s Leon Haslam, set a 2’07.839 to top the third rider session just ahead of MotoGP race winner Randy De Puniet (Yoshimura Suzuki) and Moto2 star Dominique Aegerter who is racing for Team Kagayama.

In the second rider session, Team Green’s Kazuki Watanbe was fastest ahead of 2012 winner Jonathan Rea and Josh Waters on the Yoshimura Suzuki while Monster Yamaha’s Kats Nakasuga, who set pole last year with a 2’06.817, was fastest in the first session.
