AMA bosses have postponed a decision on whether to follow the MCE British Superbike Championship and introduce a spec-ECU for the 2014 season.

The American series has already invited tenders to supply the standard electronics but has now extended the consultation period with teams and manufacturers to the end of this month.

"AMA Pro Racing is now in direct consultation with teams and associated O.E. manufactures, openly discussing the remaining options for future electronic regulations. Because of this very important dialog, any announcement pertaining to possible modifications to the 2014 American Superbike electronic rules will be no later than January 31st, 2013," said a spokesman.
