Mat Mladin's Rockstar Suzuki team is to appeal against the AMA's decision to disqualify the Australian from both races at Virginia International Raceway last weekend.

The team swept the podium in both races and Mladin's bike was pulled up for a technical inspection which revealed his crank was not in compliance with the rules.

The appeal will be based on Suzuki's claim that different vendors are used to source OEM crankshafts, and that some vendors produce rougher crank blanks that need more machining than others.
