AMA SUPERBIKES: SERIES' CRISIS DEEPENS

A deadline imposed by DMG, new owners of AMA Pro-Racing, for manufacturers to commit to the new Factory Superbike class flew by yesterday with apparently not one phone call or email going in to chief exec Roger Edmondson's office.

Which prompted him to go on holiday.

Now, the series will have two Daytona Superbike and two Factory Superbike rounds at each meeting with the £100,000 prize purse split between the four races.

Surely, if you believe in a race series you put it on and the teams will come or they won't. If they don't you find entries from elsewhere. Rumours are still strong that the Japanese manufacturers will begin their own series under the directorship of the Motorcycle Industry Council...
