Former British Superbike rider Chris Burns, who may make a return to the series at Brands, looks set to fly solo in the IDM Superbike Championship this weekend as both his team-mates are out of action.
Martin Bauer struggles to get back to full health, and following the news that Michael Schumacher will return to the Formula One World Championship later this month.
The 29-year-old from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne this week flew out to the Germany's oldest race track, located in the South East and a circuit he has never visited before. But he remains confident he can boost his points tally, which currently puts him 11th overall in the championship standings, even though he has only completed four races in the short time he has raced in the high-profile series.
Last time out at Austria's Salzburgring he overcame set-up troubles to score an eighth and a tenth, but he is determined to find a form similar to that which powered him to a fourth and second at the previous event at Sachsenring.
"I'm looking to make a big improvement this weekend, and I can't let the fact I've never even been here before slow me down," he revealed. "It's been a few weeks since our last round, and I'm looking forward to getting back in the swing of things and riding the Honda again.
"My experience since arriving in this series has been fantastic, and I've definitely felt the benefit of having a strong team behind me. The Honda is a brilliant bike, and even when we've had problems I've loved riding it.
"My first podium was in the wet, and I wasn't as strong last time out when we had no dry set-up. But that's something I want to change. If it's a dry one, I will be disappointed to get anything less than at least one podium. I'm still looking to prove that I'm as fast in the dry as I am when it rains, and that's what I'm focussing on this weekend."
