This weekend sees riders heading across the sea to the famous Assen circuit for Round 2 of the Rapid Solicitors Ducati 848 Challenge.
After two stunning opening races at Brands Hatch three weeks ago, the riders have a lot to live up to to produce racing as closely fought and exciting. Leon Morris left Brands with a double win continuing with the strong form from last season and will no doubt be the man to beat in Assen.
Darren Fry, the current title holder will hope for better luck this weekend after breaking his coccyx at Brands Hatch and will be pushing Leon all the way despite still suffering from that heavy crash.
Buildbase JHP Ducati team mates, Darren Fry and Leon Morris will be wary of the renewed challenge from Mike’Spike’ Edwards (MSK Works.com), Mark Cheetham (Shorrocks Motorcycles) and Kenny Gilbertson (Art of Racing/Boast Plumbing) who were the main challengers for podium finishes three weeks ago.
Barry Poll (Pumpkin Patch Racing) will hope to carry on where he left off at Brands Hatch after being named man of the meeting. The Russian Alexey Ivanov will no doubt also continue to improve as he becomes accustomed to the Ducati 848 Evo and his Ducati Manchester team. Team mate Robbie Brown will hope for better luck after suffering extensive damage to his bike in the previous round.
There will be two new additions to the grid this weekend with Alan Walker (MSK Works.com) returning to the Championship after missing the opening round and Ben Cope, Editor of Visordown.com makes his debut riding the George White Motorcycles supported 848.
The Assen round of the Rapid Solicitors Ducati 848 Challenge takes place during the ‘Ducati Club Races’ which is in its 32nd year. It is the biggest Amateur race meeting in Europe and this weekend hosts 15 races with 13 different clases with over 500 riders from all over Europe as well as Australia, America and Japan.
