EMX Powertrain expands FIM E-Xplorer World Cup

FIM E- Xplorer World Cup has its third manufacturer as EMX Powertrain joins the expanding competition.

Founded in 2018 by Elmar Dohms, EMX Powertrain recognised the need for innovation in motocross, creating all-electric bikes that perform above and beyond the capabilities of their combustion-engined counterparts.

A technical collaboration between EMX Powertrain and ELEO Technologies had the support of Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. and the Royal Dutch Motorcyclists Association (KNMV) in its development. From this, came the extraordinary EMX Pro - an electric motocross prototype that embodies the vision of EMX Powertrain and answers the call for a clean and silent motocross bike.

Combining the characteristics of a traditional dirt bike with the instant power delivery and practicalities of an electric motorcycle, the EMX Pro unites some of the best technologies known to motocross with cutting-edge developments on electric powertrains.

The pioneering Dutch company joins Mugen and Electric Motion at the grass roots of the new championship with further details and competitors still to be confirmed.

“I would like to congratulate Valentin and his team on their huge dedication to electric motorsports," EMX Powertrain Founder, Dohms said on the announcement. "EMX Powertrain is proud to be registered as an Official Manufacturer of the FIM E-Xplorer World Cup.

"We believe this championship will be of great value to ongoing developments and technologies for the next generation EMX Powertrain bikes.”

“As a manufacturer of innovative electric motocross bikes, we support the mission of the FIM E-Xplorer World Cup to use electric racing to accelerate innovation. Through working together with E-Xplorer, and contributing to this electric adventure, we launch electric racing into a new era by racing emissions free and endorsing diversity and equality.

“The FIM E-Xplorer World Cup is a great electric platform for EMX Powertrain in general, but also to raise awareness for electric dirt bikes and highlight their potential.

“We look forward to competing for the title against established brands as well as inventive pioneers, while all aiming for the same goal: propelling electric motor racing into the future.“

"EMX Powertrain was one of the first OEMs to respond to our call for interest in the FIM E-Xplorer World Cup when we launched the series in the summer of 2021," E-Xplorer Founder & CEO, Valentin Guyonnet confirmed.

"Elmar has an enviable track record in electric powertrain development, coupled with decades of experience in motocross.

“It's fascinating to see the results of EMX Powertrain's partnership and I'm very much looking forward to seeing how the series can help drive technology even further forward. It will be incredible to see EMX Powertrain line up alongside so many other top manufacturers when the season starts in Q3 2022."
