European Superstock race winner Gino Rea has been getting fit for the upcoming season with some training in the sun – and some help from 2009 British Superbike title challenger Leon Camier.
Rea, who still hasn't confirmed his plans for this season, has been cycling in the Spanish hills with the Camiers (Leon and little brother Alex) and also taking in some local motocross tracks.
"To help my preparation for the 2009 season, I have been training with Julian Clark in Spain for the past 12 days. It has been brilliant, we stayed in a villa on the side of a mountain, owned by Dave Dormer in a place called Lloret de Mer," said Rea.
"We cycled in the mountains every day in the early mornings, we would go back to the villa to have something to eat, then set off to a motocross track and ride my Honda CRF450 until 5pm. No gym work can compare to getting bike fit!
"After originally setting out to go for a week, me, Leon Camier and his brother Alex decided that it was so good we had to stay out for an extra five days.
"The only problem with this was that we slightly over trained. We continued to cycle and ride MX every day and my body was pretty sore and exhausted by the end, so its good to be back getting some recovery days in! Although having the van break down on us coming back through France didn't help.
"I feel in great shape and cant wait to get out on a road bike and get my knee down again! I would like to say thank you to Julian Clark, Dave Dormer and Leon Camier for their help and support."
