Former WSB and 500GP star Anthony Gobert has been remanded on bail and banned from central Surfer's Paradise in Australia after an alleged crime rampage - including the robbery of a 70-year-old man.
Gobert, who won eight WSB races and rode for Suzuki in GPs, faced Southport Magistrates Court on two charges of stealing. It's alleged he stole two $20 bills from the hand of a 70-year-old and snatched a woman's purse.
He denied the charges outside the courthouse.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that the 33-year-old, who was dubbed "Wild Child" in his heyday and was part of an incident involving urine and Neil Hodgson's crash helmet, was currently unemployed and had applied for a job at takeway restaurant Subway. He gave his occupation as "professional motorcycle racer" to the court.
Gobert was bailed on the conditions he surrender his passport, report five-days-a-week to police and not to enter central Surfer's Paradise. He is due to re-appear on June 11.
