Britain’s Stefan Hill will join veteran racer James Ellison in the Omega Maco World Endurance Superbike team for the remainder of 2020.
The youngster, who won the Superstock title with Moto Ain last year, has stepped up to the big class and will ride a 2020-spec Yamaha R1.
“After an interesting last few months I am delighted to be able to confirm that I will be returning to the FIM Endurance World Championship in 2020, not defending my Production World Cup but moving up into the Superbike category,” said Hill.
“I have to say a huge thank you to the Omega Maco team for this amazing opportunity to ride the 2020 model Yamaha R1. I must also thank Eric De Seynes and everyone at Yamaha Motor Europe.
I would also like to say a big thank you also to my personal sponsors Phoenix Service, who have supported me for much of my racing career.
“My team-mates for the season will be Enzo Boulon once again, along with James Ellison. It will be great for the team to be able to draw on the speed and vast experience of James and I look forward to partnering him starting with the 24 Hours of Le Mans on April 18th.
“The Omega Maco team proved how competitive they are at last year’s Bol D’or where they were in contention for a podium place for much of the race before finishing in fourth place. Podium places at the very least must be our target for 2020.”
