Britain's Neil Hodgson has blizted the American Superbike field during the first round of Dunlop tyre tests, lapping just under two seconds faster than second-placed man Larry Pegram.

The American Honda star and former World Superbike Champion logged 55-laps of the Daytona short course, managing a 1'38.626 lap compared to Pegram's 1'40.595. The lap wasn't far off his best race lap time from last year, a 1'37.106.

Ben Bostrom, aboard the new 'something-bang' Yamaha R1, was another second slower than Pegram while his team-mate and former World Supersport rider Josh Hayes put in a 1'42.869.

Jeremy McWilliams is also at the test for Buell.
