'I'm amazed how well my body held up' - Andrews

Honda Legends star Simon Andrews says he was pleasantly surprised how well his battered body held up under the intense pressure of a 24-hour race at the Bol d'Or.

The Evesham man, who is now back to around 90 per cent fitness after his TT horror crash last season, set a fastest lap during his first stint at the Magny-Cours race and then settled into a good rhythm with only the usual niggles that come with that type of competition.

“I would guess I am around 90 per cent back to full fitness now. I was amazed how well my body held up at the Bol d’Or, having to muscle a full Superbike on slicks in the damp so that was pleasing and now I’m ready to get back on the roads,” said Andrews, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.

"It is never easy, doing 24 hours, but it was a lot more comfortable than last year. I was a bit disheartened by the results, of course, but came away with fresh confidence for the upcoming Northwest 200."
